Encouragement: please send anyone else

Here is your almost daily encouragement words and thoughts. Today I bring you encouragement from Exodus 4:10-17

10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not an eloquent man, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant, for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”
11 The Lord said to him, “Who gave a mouth to man, or who makes a person mute or deaf or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 So now go, and I will be with your mouth and will teach you what you must say.”
13 But Moses said, “O my Lord, please send anyone else whom you wish to send!”
14 Then the Lord became angry with Moses, and he said, “What about your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he can speak very well. Moreover, he is coming to meet you, and when he sees you he will be glad in his heart.
15 “So you are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth. And as for me, I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you both what you must do.
16 He will speak for you to the people, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were his God.
17 You will also take in your hand this staff, with which you will do the signs.”

I ruffled into this piece of text today. Can you say DeJa Vu? I do not know about you, but I have on more than one occasion, had this reaction to God. I may have been praying for God to use me and when God says "hey I want you to...."

I respond with "oh I do not know. I can not do that God because...... " and I will list all the reasons why this job is way out of my league. God do you not have something that is a little closer to my level. Or “O my Lord, please send anyone else whom you wish to send!”

God does respond and I paraphrase "Hey Dude I made you I put the stuff in you, I am in control just do it. Trust me I will make what you do work."

So in reading this passage, I always take comfort that truly called people will never feel they are worthy of the call. It is a good barometer to tell you if you are in God's will. The reason that I think you feel that way is because God made you that way. By that I mean, that you need God's strength and power to do His work.

You can not do it God's way with out his help. God does not always talk to you.
Rather He provides you with the tools like Moses's staff and people like Aaron that are there to be your assistance to get God's story done.

So the next time you feel overwhelmed with what God has put in your lap, look around for the tools and people that God has provided to allow you to be someone important in His story,

Amen
