Encouragement: Do not forget

Here is your daily encouragement words and thoughts. Today I bring you encouragement from Proverbs 3:18

3:1 My child, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
2 for they will provide a long and full life,
and they will add well-being to you.
3 Do not let truth and mercy leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will find favor and good understanding,
in the sight of God and people.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding.
6 Acknowledge him in all your ways,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own estimation;
fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
8 This will bring healing to your body,
and refreshment to your inner self.

"Let your heart keep my commandments" This statement caught my eye this morning. How often we try and try and try to have our mind capture God and his ways. We try to memorize verses and quote scripture to support our thoughts. Our minds are analytical machines made to calculate and perform tasks. This morning it becomes clear to me that relating to God with our minds is like trying to eat soup with a fork. Our relationship with God is not a logical mind relationship. It is a relationship of the heart. Only our hearts can grasp the great things of God and the eternal relationship.

Once we start writing God's commandments into our hearts proverbs promises "for they will provide a long and full life, and they will add well-being to you.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,"
"Acknowledge him in all your ways, "
"Do not be wise in your own estimation"

and

This will bring healing to your body, and refreshment to your inner self.

Amen

Thank you once again for a blog that 'hit home' to me. I needed to hear that our relationship with God is not a mind relationship but one of the heart. And I always remember that its not about 'feeling' Him, but KNOWING He is there and that is FAITH. He said so, therefore I believe it!
God bless your heart jg
