Encouragement: Faithful and Reliable

Here is your daily encouragement words and thoughts. Today I bring you encouragement from Psalm 25:6-13

6 Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O Lord,
for you have always acted in this manner.
7 Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts!
Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O Lord!
8 The Lord is both kind and fair;
that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live.
9 May he show the humble what is right!
May he teach the humble his way!
10 The Lord always proves faithful and reliable
to those who follow the demands of his covenant.
11 For the sake of your reputation, O Lord,
forgive my sin, because it is great.
12 The Lord shows his faithful followers
the way they should live.
13 They experience his favor;
their descendants inherit the land.

Thanks be to God that we have Jesus Christ as our provider of forgiveness. He paid the price for our sins past, present and future.

When I look on my life how often I could say "For the sake of your reputation, O Lord, forgive my sin, because it is great."

The closer you get to God and the more familiar you are with his
Word the more you become aware of your own sinful nature. Try as we may we fall short of God's standard but that is the whole point. It is only through the finished work of Jesus Christ that we are forgiven. John says

1 John 1 8-10
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 2 1-2
1 My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin; but if any one does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and he is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

The Revised Standard Version. 1971 (1 Jn 2:1). Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.

With our advocate in place and our trust in the faithful and reliable God we can stand in the grace so freely provided to us.

Amen
