Here is your daily encouragement words and thoughts. Today I bring you encouragement from Psalm 46:1-11
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. 7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. 9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

"Be still, and know that I am God"
We live in a world with instant this and instant that. We can talk to someone in almost any part of the world with our technology. It is a struggle to find quiet time of any sort. If fact we are so conditioned to noise that when we do get somewhere where there is complete silence it almost hurts the ears as our brains try to turn up the volume to try to hear something.
All this noise can spill over to our time with God. Our time with reading God's Word, praying to God. Over the last 2 years I keep running into this concept of listening prayer. It is something that was common in monasteries in the days of old. I am becoming more and more aware of what an integral part of prayer that listening prayer is. Listening prayer is something that takes patience.
Lets just look at prayer for a moment. How do we do it. If you are like me then I usually start with thanks and praise and then I get on to the need that is before me and close with in Jesus name I pray Amen. But lets look at this from God's side. God's cell phone rings He checks the call display. God says to Himself oh it is JG calling. JG starts the conversation even before God can say hello and JG goes on and on and on and then says amen and hangs up. God says maybe some day JG will let me say hello and tell him to be still, and know that I am God.
I am not saying that God is going to call back and say "There is nothing wrong with your big toe or do not buy the yellow car." Listening to God is going to put a peace and a confidence in your soul that otherwise cannot enter your life. He may nudge you to a scripture, or hold you in those everlasting arms or just lead you at those time when you have no strength to go yourself or no idea which way to go.
Listening prayer takes patience. Dr Wayne Dyer makes mention in one of his books of the following concept. "Infinite patience leads to immediate results." This so applies to listening prayer. At first when you try listening prayer your mind will be all over the place racing racing racing. The more time you spend with listening prayer the more often the peace of listening will set in. Your mind will still be busy but you will have moments of peaceful silence in your mind.
So I encourage you the next time you pray to leave God some time, listen for God to reply be it a nudge, a scripture to read after, or for God to just grant you a moment of his peace to be held in those everlasting arms. Let His peace into your heart. Be still, and know that HE is the I AM God.
Silence...........................
Amen
