Today I bring you encouragement from 1 John 3:16-20
16 We have come to know love by this: that Jesus laid down his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.
17 But whoever has the world’s possessions and sees his fellow Christian in need and shuts off his compassion against him, how can the love of God reside in such a person?
18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth.
19 And by this we will know that we are of the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence,
20 that if our conscience condemns us, that God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.

I have been looking for this passage of scripture for some time. In our world of me first, and the worldly suggestion that "I look after myself so should they" leads us to focus inward.
This scripture sets us on our heels and challenges us to check our compassion so that the Love of God may be found to reside in us. This scripture tell us to reach out and look after our fellow Christians needs.
Amen

Amen! It is in the love of Jesus that we can look past what we have been deprived of ourselves as we lift up and encourage another! God gives us what we cannot muster, that we might give to others what we would be otherwise sorely lacking in.
