Today I bring you encouragement from Psalm 115:1-9
115:1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us!
But to your name bring honor,
for the sake of your loyal love and faithfulness.
2 Why should the nations say,
“Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven!
He does whatever he pleases!
4 Their idols are made of silver and gold –
they are man-made.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see,
6 ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell,
7 hands, but cannot touch,
feet, but cannot walk.
They cannot even clear their throats.
8 Those who make them will end up like them,
as will everyone who trusts in them.
9 O Israel, trust in the Lord!
He is their deliverer and protector.

Wow what a wake up call! "He does whatever He pleases!"
So much of the Christian world today runs on the premise that it is all about us. We just need to have faith, we just need to pray right, we just need to do this and do not do that and our God will be at our service.
But this little one liner tells all. God does what ever He pleases. That means it is all about Him. Louie Giglio (see link on right) in some of his messages talks about getting the mind set right. That we need focus on being a part of God's story and not be trying to get God to be a servant in our story.
It is easy to have the feeling like you are in God's story when all is going right. It is in those times when the apple cart has been upset and you are down on your knees pleading with God "Where are You!" Those are the times when we need to seek His overflowing grace and ask Him where do you want me in your story or how does my situation lead to Your glory.
It is at these times when all seem wrong and out of place that people around you will say like the Psalm:
"So where is your God?"
To that question we need to be able to answer.
"Our God is in heaven! He does whatever He pleases!"
We need to have the mind set.
"Not to us, O Lord, not to us!
But to Your name bring honor,
for the sake of Your loyal love and faithfulness."
So when the world is coming down around you, stop and step back and search for how God is using you in His story to His glory. Let yourself and your situation be soaked in the waves of everlasting grace that He so freely gives as we play a part in His story.
If we are part of His story we are a part of the everlasting story.
Amen

Am I letting God use me in the midst of my struggles or am I focused on me and my struggles? This older post was just what the Great Physician ordered.
